She has been in several short films and television productions, including “Law and Order: Special Victims Unit,” “Betty White’s 90th Birthday Special” and the series finale of “Boardwalk Empire,” among others.
“A lot of time you do all this work and it doesn’t go anywhere and to just see it and to have something this big that can be shared with other people is nice.”Īlthough this is her first big film, Destiny is not a newcomer to acting. “It’s exciting, I don’t think people realize how much work goes into it and to see her work so hard and be so dedicated to it and then finally see a result that she can enjoy and feel rewarded is great,” said Melissa Cruz, Destiny’s mother. “So it was a lot of fun to make new friends and even the adult people that were in (the movie) were really nice to me too.”Īfter a lot of hard work and a lot of waiting, Destiny will finally be able to see the finished product next week. “It was a lot of fun to make new friends and when I heard that there were going to be some of the ballerinas there that were kind of my age it was exciting,” she said. One of the main reasons Destiny loves performing, she said, is the connections she gets to make with others on the set. Throughout different scenes as Jonathan tries to build a connection with Luka, she is introduced to other supporting characters who are her age, including dancers.
“Acting is all about your eyes so sometimes I’d have to be sad and it was a little bit hard to show it in my eyes, but you just have to keep practicing and look at yourself and when you really believe that you’re sad you know you got it,” she said.Īlthough the film is intended for an adult audience, the atmosphere was positive for the child actor.
